The holidays are right around the corner, meaning there will be lots of delicious sweets and foods to indulge. One fun thing about fall is that there are fewer heat waves, meaning more fun activities to do with your children! One thing we should keep in mind during this holiday season is to maintain a healthy lifestyle through simple exercises, but what better way to do than with your children?!

Here are a few fun and simple activities any family can do together – and I guarantee you it won’t feel like you’re exercising at all!

  1.  Make a game out of household chores

Pretend that their toys and blankets are creatures invading the earth and it is up to Captain (insert child’s name) to save the day by capturing everything as fast as they can

  1. Go for a pre or post dinner walk

Try incorporating walks into your daily schedule before or after dinner around your neighborhood. To make it more exciting, you can play “I spy a cat sitting in the window” with the children or make them run up and down steps.

  1. Team up for gardening

Children love digging up the dirt, so let them dig holes and you can put in the new plant. Not only is gardening fun for both you and your children, but it also increases cardiovascular activity as it can contribute to lowered risk for osteoporosis and diabetes, better sleep, and even reduced stress levels.
