Since flu season is upon us, we are all susceptibility to catching germs that can cause fevers, sore throats, coughs, and body aches all over. Here at Dr. Patricia MD, we are especially conscious and aware of this matter. Not only does it impede a child’s physical condition, it also tampers their overall progression in health and possibly get their peers sick as well.

Since our programs and services are aimed at addressing the general health needs of children and their families, here are a few tips in avoiding the flu and staying healthy from takepart.com:

  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water. Regularly clean surfaces like tables, door handles, computer keyboards, and phones, which are excellent places for germs to travel. Carry hand sanitizer when you can’t wash your hands
  • Reduce touching facial parts like your nose, lips, and eyes. Scratching and rubbing facial parts is a bad habit and are easy entrance points for the flu virus to enter the body.
  • Clean up. Since germs can live up to forty-eight hours on any inanimate object, it is best to get in the habit of cleaning household items often.
  • Get vaccinated! The easiest way to avoid catching the flu is to plan a vaccination trip with you and your loves ones.
  • Get adequate rest. Attaining enough rest is important for keeping a healthy immune system. Seven and a half to eight hours of sleep a night is optimal.
  • Exercise! Being physically active reduces the chances of illness. Studies have shown that exercise and workouts are directly linked to fewer colds

Tell us, what have you found as the most effective to fight the flu this season?
