Halloween is just around the corner! If you’re throwing a spooky party for a crowd of little ones, or just having a little get together for your kid’s friends, it’s a good idea to include some physical activity in the mix.
Here are a few ideas to get the children moving and having fun! Remember to make sure that they drink plenty of water, and serve them a healthy snack instead of candy!
Monster Freeze
Play the song “Monster Mash” or another Halloween song. While the music is playing, have the kids dance using their best monster moves. When the music stops, they must freeze in place!
Skeleton Jacks
Starting with knees slightly bent, explode up into the air into a jumping jack. Make sure they extend limbs outward, land softly and recoil.
Mummy Sit-ups
Begin by lying on your back with legs straight and hands on thighs; inhale. Engage the core and slowly sit up while gliding the fingers down toward the knees and exhaling. Sit up straight into a tall posture with shoulders back; inhale. Slowly return to the starting position while engaging the core and exhale.
Relay Race
Get kids to race and get from start to finish the Halloween way! There are lots of creative ways to play this game. Have them race like zombies, hop like toads, or carry a small pumpkin. Of course, if they’re in costume, all the better!
Mummy Wrap
Divide guests up in pairs; give each pair a roll of toilet paper. One team member will be the wrapper, the other will be the wrapped mummy. The first team to use up its roll wins. Or you can give each team two rolls of toilet paper and after the mummy is wrapped, he or she must wrap his partner. The first team to empty both rolls of toilet paper wins.
