Exciting News!! Dr. Patricia is going to be on the KTLA Morning Show TODAY (Wednesday) from 5:00-9:30am for the segment “Halloween Boos and Dos.” There will be a recap at 1:00pm as well if you missed it.
Dr. Patricia will be discussing sweet alternatives to Halloween candy and what to do with leftover candy. While we always tell children to enjoy the holidays and indulge in their favorite treats, it can get overwhelming sometimes, which only leads to stomach aches. Since you know your children are going to be getting their fair share of candy this weekend, we’ve come up with some fun alternatives to candy to eat and some crafting ways to use candy. Check them out below:
Alternatives to Candy:
Try out a fun candy-corn alternative like the parfait below. All you need is unsweetened yogurt, orange slices, and pineapple chunks. Looks just like a candy corn with much less sugar!

Try out these fun jack-o-lanterns by drawing faces on clementines. You can make them scary or happy for a festive and healthy alternative to candy.

What to do with left over candy:
Create a haunted house! Use an old cardboard box, paint it black, and glue different candy on as decorations. Then you can paint that to make it really spooky. (See all four steps below)

Use candy to create a fun and interactive race track. You can glue them to a piece of poster board, paint them, and play! Such a fun way to use candy without eating it!
Tell us – which of these would you do with your kids? What healthy alternatives do you have for Halloween candy?
